Budtenders are the MVPs of the cannabis industry. Every month, we spotlight a budtender who goes above and beyond by delivering exceptional customer service, demonstrating deep product knowledge, and contributing to their community. These are the professionals who make Ontario's legal cannabis industry thrive.

How It Works

Number-One

Nominations Open: Anyone can nominate an outstanding budtender; managers, colleagues, customers, friends and even self-nominations are welcome.

Number-Two

Winner Selected: Our team selects a winner each month. The winner is sent an interview form to complete to support their feature.

Number-Three

Winner Announced: Each winner is announced in our monthly newsletter, awarded a prize, and celebrated across all channels.

We're looking for budtenders who demonstrate:

  • Exceptional Customer Service: Going above and beyond to create positive experiences for every customer.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of cannabis products, effects, and responsible consumption.
  • Professionalism: Representing the industry with integrity, compliance, and expertise.
  • Community Impact: Contributing to their team, store, or broader cannabis community.
  • Passion for Education: Helping customers and colleagues make informed decisions and promoting safe consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions


Can I nominate myself?

You are welcome to nominate yourself and/or your colleagues. There is no limit to the amount of nominations you may submit.

Can I nominate someone more than once?

No. We ask that you nominate someone only once. However, you are welcome to encourage others to complete nominations for the same candidate.

What if the budtender I nominate doesn't win?

The budtender you nominate may not win during the month you submit, but they are still eligible to win in future months. To support and bolster your nomination, feel free to encourage others to submit nominations too.

Do nominees have to be CannSell-certified?

CannSell certification isn’t required to be nominated, but you must be certified to work in cannabis retail within Ontario.

How is the winner selected?

Winners are selected through editorial review by the CannSell team based on the number and quality of the nominations we receive.
