To achieve the CannServe Certification, you will need to complete the training program and get a grade of at least 80% on the final exam. You will have a maximum of two attempts.

CannServe Standard Certification is one of the AGCO Board-approved training programs for legally authorized alcohol retailers in Ontario. Ontario law requires that all employees who are involved with the direct sale of retail alcohol must complete an approved training program such as CannServe before they can sell alcohol in a retail environment.

Is there a minimum age requirement?
There is no minimum age requirement on who can receive a CannServe certificate.

What languages is the course available in?
Learners can choose between English and French at the beginning of the course. Please complete the course in the language that was initially selected. Switching back and forth between languages will reset course progress.

What are the available payment options?
No. While this advanced training adds value and expertise, Ontario law requires the standard certification course (CannSell Standard) for retail employment. The Expert course is a career enhancer, but it is not required for retail employment.

How long does the Expert course take to complete?
CannSell Expert takes between 16 and 20 hours to complete, depending on your pace. The course can be completed in multiple sessions, on any device with internet access.

Does this course cover “budtender training Ontario” topics specifically?
No. Although the curriculum is highly relevant for Ontario’s cannabis retail market and staff working in Ontario stores, this course is designed for anyone in the cannabis industry who would like to expand and advance their cannabis knowledge.

Is a digital certificate included?
Yes. You will receive a digital badge and a certificate on successful completion of the Expert course. 

What can I do with my CannSell Expert certification?
We recommend that you add this credential onto your resume to help you stand out in the competitive cannabis job market. 

What if I cannot afford the cost of the CannSell Expert program?
If you are currently working in cannabis retail, you may ask your manager to help you cover the cost of the CannSell Expert program. Although not guaranteed or mandated, many budtenders have successfully received support from their retail manager to cover the cost of this certification.
