Budtender of the Month: Kartik Gill of Moksha Cannabis

June 23, 2026

There's a particular kind of budtender who makes customers feel like they've been heard — not just processed. Kartik Gill of Moksha Cannabis is one of them.

Kartik's approach is straightforward: listen first, suggest second. He takes time to understand what a customer actually wants before making a recommendation, and he's quick to challenge the assumption that a higher price tag means a better product. For Kartik, good retail is about finding the right fit, not the most expensive one.

He's also not standing still. Kartik keeps a close eye on what's coming next in the industry, and he brings that curiosity to every shift. We asked him to share more about what drives him, what he'd tell his colleagues, and where he sees cannabis in Canada heading next.

Why are you passionate about your role?

I really like making people happy and helping them find products they’ll enjoy. I also like suggesting new things and learning about what’s coming next in the cannabis industry. There’s always something new to explore, which keeps things exciting for me.

What is one thing you wish all customers knew?

I wish customers knew that higher prices don’t always mean better quality. A lot of people think expensive products are always the best, but that’s not true. Sometimes you can find something really good at a lower price that works just as well, or even better.

What is your number one tip for your colleagues on how to excel in their roles?

My number one tip for my colleagues is to really listen to the customer and understand what they want. Everyone is different, so if you take the time to actually learn about their needs, you can suggest the right product and make their experience better.

If you could have any other role in the industry, what would it be and why?

One day, I would love to have my own cannabis store. It’s something I’m really interested in; especially the idea of building my own business. I’m passionate about the industry and would love to continue to grow with it.

What are you excited about for the future of cannabis in Canada? What do you envision?

I’m excited to see how much the industry keeps growing. Every day I see customers from all age groups, from 19-year-olds to people in their 70s, which shows how much cannabis has become a regular part of people’s lives. In the future, I hope there will be even more products, more education, and more acceptance.

Anything else you want to tell us about yourself?

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time at the gym and really enjoy fitness. It helps me stay focused and disciplined. I’m also someone who likes connecting with people, working hard, and always trying to improve myself.

Certified Is Just the Starting Point

Kartik's story is a good reminder that the best budtenders aren't just knowledgeable. They're intentional. They listen, they stay curious, and they bring a level of care to every customer interaction that no product description can replicate.

That kind of excellence is earned through experience and sharpened through training.
